Bill for my second knee replacement was $108K in 2014. The outpatient surgery center in San Francisco charged us $85K just for the use of their facility for 4 hours. Aetna ultimately settled for $42K. Either way it was outrageous.

Medical & Dental services in USA although of good quality are priced absurdly high. Insurance companies only cover up to a cost set by them while actual are 4x their estimates. In all, it is an abuse vs patients. Not fair!

Just look at what it cost for a normal doctor, dental or vision visit. I have 3 kids and a wife who is a stay home mom and have very good insurance plan with Blue Shield Blue Cross. What I still have to pay out of pocket per month, could easily cover another mortgage payment.
