Main factors: 1. Lack of relocation packages (oligopolies do not have to compete for employees, especially those who are non-unionized and desperate for healthcare) 2. No home equity (unable to move)

        3. Unaffordable childcare, which keeps parents near family (i.e., unpaid childcare, aka, grandmothers)

: Fewer companies can be trusted at all to uphold their ends of the bargain when it comes to relocation (or even employment). Employers expect far more loyalty and sacrifice than they are willing to show loyalty to many employees, and wages have badly stalled for years.

And I'm in the small minority willing, but employers WONT hire bc I'm "not local."

This is a good article. The problem with reluctance to move comes when there are no new jobs, no new industry and no meaningul future. That is when you see Resentment, and decaying communities.

: Twice I have relocated 250+ miles for jobs with large corporations, once as a transfer within the company, and both times the company screwed me. One decided to not open the branch the week I got there. The other eliminated the department while I was moving. Both jobs lost.
