Some Uber and Lyft drivers take unnecessarily longer routes to destinations in order to drive up fares. "It’s the only way I could get what I was owed," one driver said.https://on.wsj.com/2MpLQsj

I drive too. Maybe this is a New Orleans thing, but if I followed the GPS app, you would not like the roads or traffic you sit in unnecessarily. Have never had a passenger complain because I explain what i am doing.

Don’t they realize driving extra miles for extra money...costs them money in gas, wear and tear, and their own time. Not to mention time spent driving around is time not getting another fare...

This happened to me last year. Surge pricing from the airport and I was jet lagged. @Uber_Support refunded some of my money, but the driver must have found out and killed my perfect rating with a one star, which Uber won’t remove even in a clear case of retaliation.pic.twitter.com/6JDtdK29Jy

Complete bullshit. Driven over 7000 rides for Lyft. NEVER deliberately lengthened ride. It's only worth about a dollar a mile so imagine how hard you would have to scheme for an extra 20 a day?????

@Uber_ARG and @cabify_arg use tráfic apps like @waze to make their ROUTES. Also they share it with the passenger, and as a passenger, also you can share it with others woh expects you at destination

The drivers will always try to take the freeway when another route is cheaper.

maybe because freeways maximize fuel efficiency and reduce wear and tear on brakes, transmissions and suspension that is chewed up by stopping at lights and stop signs...freeways are designed for transit while local streets are for those in the neighborhood, not cheap travelers
