The logical long term strategy for #Uber should be to decline servicing NYC unless it embraces their market-based business model. Otherwise, every city will attempt to turn Uber into the run of the mill bloated medallion bureaucracies they aimed to disrupt to begin with.

Uber should exit @NYC and let the foolish city legislators feel the political heat for preventing customer choice.

Ridiculous. The market wants ride hailing over taxis, but government knows better? Just a great example of unnecessary interference. What problem are they really solving?

this is ridiculous. I wonder if the horse and buggy union convinced the city to limit cars back in the early 1900s

Small thinking from a city poised to be the innovative center of the east coast. Not sure how this helps anyone but a handful of politicians.

This Helps the Drivers That serve the city and their families. They were suffering for a long time. And the city is good with the amount of cars it has for the next 12 months. I’m in the city everyday

Helps the medallion owners and politicians. Doesn’t help the drivers that want to work for themselves as Uber drivers.

You obviously don’t drive for Uber to know what’s going on. This new bill forces Uber to guarantee their driver living decent Pay. And also caps new vehicles from entering NYC

Here's a good article from today's @WSJ. I generally agree with all of his points. Not sure if he missed your point on "Uber guaranteeing a living decent pay", I'm not aware of that provision of the bill.https://www.wsj.com/articles/getting-around-is-about-to-get-harder-for-minorities-1534287657 …

Outrageous. If NY cabs were so great they would not have an issue. They can’t stand the competition because they are so bad. Many cities cabs are horrible. New Orleans a typical example.

This is crazy. Maybe if the yellow cabs wouldn't refuse blk people or commute to the outter boroughs their industry wouldn't be struggling.

Earlier this week, the headline was that nearly 1/2 of ride-sharing vehicles are empty at any given moment. Situation deserves to be investigated, and attempts made to allow sensible earning power for all drivers.

So much for the free market. Leftist cab unions losing market share due to price and service, use their wholly owned government lackeys to eliminate competition so that they can openly screw the public. Obviously unfair but... that's NY. Life in a leftist utopia.
