Opinion: Chuck Schumer’s mind is already made up on Kavanaugh, so why demand so many documents before the confirmation hearing? writes @ChuckGrassleyhttps://on.wsj.com/2OQvaso

It's called due diligence. Something Trump never bothers with. And that's how we wind up with criminals in powerful positions.

Because not everyone's mind is made up in the Senate and all the Senators and their staff should know who it is they are voting for or against.

To slow walk the process in hopes that the Democrat Socialists will retake the House of Representatives in the midterms.

Obstruction is deserved. Plain and simple. Typically I don't care for the petty, but in this case #MerrickGarland

Yeah I'm missing the part where this is bad. Are you @ChuckGrassley saying more information and transparency would be a bad thing? I know you seem happy about governing in darkness but a lot of us like to turn the lights on.

What a pile of poo spin. Precedent is all of the writings, etc. of a SCOTUS nominee be provided to all Senators 2 review in order 4 ea 2 honor their individual duty to advise & consent. The only question is -- why are you against providing everything?

The obvious answer is to do as much as they can to get Kavanaugh to recuse himself in any case involving Trump due to conflict of interest. The other answer is to paint the R’s as out of touch in supporting a nominee that is totally tainted, and turning voter’s off.

There are 48 other Democratic Senators that would like to see the documents too.

The phrase is "advice and consent". There need not be any intention to "consent" for discovery to be in good faith for the "advice" role.
