Catholic priests will face a conflict between their duties to the church and requirements of Australian law. “Priests who have knowledge or suspicion of child sex abuse should report that to police, and failure to do so must be treated as a crime.”https://on.wsj.com/2ADqi6K

No Priest can break the Seal of Confession and remain a Priest. All Catholic Priests will refuse to follow this, no matter what the consequences. It is their duty to reject anti-Catholic bigotry.

If you want all Catholic Priests to be locked up, may God have mercy on you.

The ones who molest children or protect molesters should be. If you don’t, then may god have mercy on YOUR soul. My soul will be just fine.

Hearing Confession is not protecting molesters. If you told a Priest your sins, would you want them repeated to the world? No. God intstituted Confession. You have no right to force Priests to repeat anything said in Confession.

This thread has reminded me why I left the catholic church. This kind of belief is truly disgusting. WWJD indeed.

Jesus gave us Confession. If you tell your husband your most personal and shameful secret, how would you feel if he then went out and told everyone?

If it was that I had raped a kid?! I’d hope he’d disown me and let the whole world know. #catholicismharborsrapists #wwjd

Protecting a child abuser equals supporting and helping a child abuser. The abuser is not the victim that needs protection. The child is the victim. Any priest who values wearing a black robe more than protecting the innocent can go to hell.

Welfare of children must take precedence over adult’s desire to clear his/her conscience. More education re proper behavior, healthy boundaries, etc. needs to be taught, and how priests should handle intrusive inappropriate sexual feelings.

It’s disgusting that this is a ‘new’ law. People in authority positions should not have to be told it’s law to report child sex abuse. One more argument against the existence of god.

Why is it a priest has always given absolution to known rapists or wrongdoers? Have they ever been known to say your not forgiven? So how is it sacred?
