Opinion: The House farm bill would discourage food stamp dependency. The Senate should keep it that way, writes @RepDaveBrathttps://on.wsj.com/2LJrNVv

Kids make up almost half of those getting food stamps - they not only depend on food to continue to live but they need it to learn and thrive. Why attack one of most successful anti-poverty programs ever? There are many other ways to save money other than taking food from kids.

I'm not sure that's an anti-poverty program. I would think being able to make enough money to not need the program would be much better. Hopefully that's what would happen

Half of US jobs pay less than $18/hr and the fed minimum wage is $7.25, not enough in most places to live. If everyone who could work had a good job maybe we wouldn’t need food stamps. Until then, kids need food. Hope you are out there fighting for living wage jobs for all

You know what discourages food-stamp dependency? Living wages for all working Americans.

Trump destroyed farmers in the US and you are worried about food stamps. Stupid article is stupid.

The average food stamp recipient gets $126 per month. Is that too much for a month of food?

Right, let's take people who are too mentally ill to hold down a job , and deprive them of food. Did you learn that at seminary?
