an example of western society priviledge (spec the while male variety): this man thinks he has the right/deserves to/is entitled to try to get into a members only club of a restaurant in a difft country. surprise! it's not all about u. if u can't get in, move on, and don't whine.
-
I respectfully think that you are blowing one case of a man being unable to eat in a restaurant that he’d like to eat in (due to its exclusivity) way out of proportion. A film of privilege can be cast over anything, it doesn’t mean it has to be.
-
"He tried showing up at Sushi Saito and pleading, but was turned away. Mr. Grinberg can’t understand it." some things are out of reach for western society, but some ppl are so used to having things being for them, they literally can not understand why they would be denied.
-
Or it could just be that there is an exclusive group that doesn’t except any random person (we have those in Western society too) and he is disappointed that he wasn’t accepted so he can’t complete his list. Nowhere in the article does it say he thinks he deserves to be let in.
-
He article simply says that he doesn’t understand what he needs to do to deserve entry. Also you make the baseless assumption that this group doesn’t accept Westerners, which I would disagree with unless you showed evidence of that.
-
i think you misunderstood my point. my point wasnt that the restaurant doesnt accept westerners. my point was that someone from the west thinks he should be allowed to ear at this restaurant. 1/

Where does it say that he thinks he should be able to eat there? He just doesn’t understand why he isn’t allowed to eat there. Two different things.
-
Say I’m a businessman and I want to join an investment group. I apply and am denied. I don’t understand what I’d have to do to get in beyond what I’ve done, but I do not honk that I have been slighted or that I deserve entry.
