There comes a time when a sport should play with the same sets of rules.

Pitchers were never great hitters. They’ve always been well below average. They’re just god awful now. This is why I’ve always favored the DH. I want to see the best pitching against the best possible hitting. DH makes sense.

Losing one of the key strategic decisions in the game for the sake of crowd pleasing is just too bad. The walking, up& down, and palming rules were changed in the NBA to add pizazz and now the offense is indefensible and the most of the game resembles the Globe Trotters.

Sad thing is...NL fans don’t want the DH. The biggest cry for it is from AL fans. Usually when they have to play in an NL park in the WS and lose their DH.

With the way managers use the bullpen, we're halfway there already with pinch hitters. In an average game the starting pitcher get two at bats, and pinch hitters hit twice for relievers.

The DH is as horrible an idea as the NBA's 3-point line.

I am one of those purists that love the challenge that goes into having the pitcher hit. It makes managers earn their money. Right now with it split between leagues is the way to leave it.

No, it means they need to get out there and work harder like the rest of the players.

Yes. The time has come. Plus, American League teams at disadvantage when playing NL teams. They build around DH. No one pays to see a pitcher swing a bat.

DH is an abomination. Should be removed from the AL. If you can’t bat and field, you shouldn’t be playing anymore. Only football has different players for offense and defense, every other sport manages to have players do multiple things...

So should we have a designated catcher then too? I would argue that’s a pretty unique position... how many designated positions should we have? Or perhaps we can play it in the manner that’s worked for over 100 years?

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree that it’s made the sport better...
