Send them a strong message. Take them out of the store. Leaving everything behind. Then don't bring them back in the store until they are mature enough to be there. Leave them with grandma or a baby sitter. Make it clear you left because of how they were acting.

Redirect immediately and talk about the feelings later. Melt downs are more stressful for kids & parents because it’s embarrassing & children feel misunderstood. De-elevate by short-circuiting hysteria, it’s immediate and extremely effective.
