I agree with others: comedies are just incredibly bland right now. There are no Tommy Boys, no Ace Venturas, no Happy Gilmores. It's just a bunch of people that Hollywood says are "funny" being put in non-funny situations and using the same jokes over and over.

This article fails to mention the single most important element of comedy, its content. My opinion is that a sizeable chunk of moviegoers simply grew tired of inane, profane, mean, and relentlessly insulting comedies.

Nice article but sorry, it got it all wrong. The problem is that what passes for comedy are movies like "The Hangover" and anything with Seth Rogan. They're just not really funny and you tire easily of them. And the writing is just bad. They need to look to the past and learn.
