Why are fewer moviegoers turning out for comedies? Blame superheroes, YouTube stars and Netflix.https://on.wsj.com/2MhSgWH

Maybe the movies just aren't good, and consumers are more informed than ever? No, your right is the darn millenials.

Going to movies can be expensive and a good comedy is just as good at home as it is on the big screen.

The real problem are clueless studio executives who can't recognize a great comedic script, and then let it get made properly.

Its cuz I dont want to spend $15 for a comedy I could watch at home. Surround sound and big screen mean more with an action movie.

YouTube "stars" with bought audiences and middling talent aren't hurting movies. Obviously rushed and consequently flat Netflix stand-up specials aren't doing it either.

Gosh, let's see. It can't be that Hollywood has actively ramped up stereotyping, denigration, and dehumanization of half the country, or that many of its comedies star actors as famous for the above as for their work. And it can't be that we can wait a while and watch at home.

Blame hyper-political Hollywood. Only so many times you want to hear a low-life "actor" disparage your beliefs. - Haven't been to a movie since before the election, won't be going anytime soon.

I can’t remember the last comedy I saw that was actually funny. I think the last good one was “Bridesmaids”. It’s too risky to spend movie dollars on so-called comedies, so I wait to see them on Netflix or Prime Video - and usually turn off halfway through.
