I see no reason for it. I signed up based on the fact that I'll have no need for my organs in the event something happens to me, why not give someone else the opportunity of life? Actually, we should consider automatically enrolling everyone as a donor with the option to opt out.

The answer in an "opt-out" law which would substantially increase the supply of organs. However, there are well-heeled companies whose profit would suffer greatly if dialysis patients are reduced. Their lobbyists will do what is necessary to ensure it will never happen.
