To hug or not to hug: That is increasingly a question for colleagues and clients to ponder as they try to express workplace warmth but avoid awkwardness, or worse.https://on.wsj.com/2tkjCUX

"To hug or not to hug" is an easy decision; Hug family, friends, loved ones. Shake hands with business clients/associates etc. Period!

Guess what? If you don't want someone to hug you, just tell them, politely. Personally, I'd rather be hugged than called a variety of vulgar names.

Worked 2 jobs long term, 1 for 7 years, 1 for 28 years. Never hugged my male bosses or any male co-workers for that matter. We all got along great at work & at social events. Love hugs, but not appropriate between male & female co-workers.

Soon eye contact will be considered harassment.

I don't mind if people, even strangers, hug me, but I don't think it should be a corporate strategy either. Work is work. It's professional. Hug after hours.

Depends, if colleagues start hugging bosses hmm 🤔😐. Definitely, a handshake and warm smile for clients!

I prefer no touching of any kind. If you’re the hugging type I will tell you no. Don’t care if you’re male or female. Handshakes are professional & acceptable.

Yuck. Why would people be hugging at work? Not appropriate behavior at all.

In February, a federal court in Los Angeles ruled that hugging employees—no matter the gender of the person doing the hugging—may create a hostile work environment.
