This is a painfully dishonest and misleading "accounting", which does it's best to "account" for the benefits of fossil fuels, but makes no effort whatsoever to honestly account for the costs. To market this as a cost/benefit analysis is really weak.

someone got some money from someone else, to publish a biased review of a bullshit paper paid for by the oil companies. this is not even an opinion, it's advertising concealed as a blowjob.

This is shameful, even for you @WSJ. Perhaps there's a story about children being ripped from parents and put in cages that you could pursue?

Compared to burning wood, of course. But as our society develops better alternatives, it’s time to let them go. After all, Stone Age didn’t end because we ran out of stones.

Honestly cannot tell the difference between this piece and something published by the onion. Argument about less dying from the cold is absurd. Thanks for the laughs.

Negative comments here from rabid Greeners using the benefits of fossil fuel technologies, while not refuting facts of article, are beyond hypocritical, sad sad sad

On the face of it, this sounds short-sighted. What about the benefits of a plastic litter field in the Pacific reported to be five times the size of France--or Texas, for that matter? It's not a trick question.

I have something better: real science, including the sampling methodology. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-22939-w … … My apologies: it is 3 times the size of France not 5. It must be my dyslexia creating fake news... Over to you.
