'We have to help these young people who are drowning.' Bankruptcy judges long balked at erasing college debt. Then their grown children became borrowers.https://on.wsj.com/2sUg4Zg

Wow could that actually be a shred of empathy? Erase the debt, let the kids be free. We need to unlock their genius now instead of forcing them into soul crushing jobs doing meaningless work just to get paid.

I also advocate harsh sentences for the people who put guns to their heads and forced them to take out the loans.

Maybe we should also assess the programs they’re using the loans for. I find it hard to believe that software engineers, nurses, and the like are having difficulty finding employment.

I worked an extra part-time job in addition to my full-time job to pay back my student loans ahead of schedule and save money to buy a house. How about teaching responsible borrowing.

Predatory lending has nothing to do with this. /s “more than $230,000 in interest that built up on a couple’s student loans from the 1980s. They left bankruptcy owing the original amount: $78,000.”

Who is willing to loan $ to people who will not pay it back with interest? If the Loan Program becomes a sham, TIGHTEN IT UP.

If you are stupid enough to spend thousands of dollars and among the most precious years of your life studying a subject which provides little to no marginal competitive edge in economic life, you deserve no pity for being stuck with the cost you signed up for.
