Weird article. Not sure why the author thinks this is a new thing. In my twenties I would hit the movie solo many times, especially for the great 70’s box office hits. It was packed, and about 40% of crowd was solo (ok, more often during day than at night).

Going to movies with friends means: 1. They're going to eat my popcorn. 2. They're going to talk during the movie. Both of those things are intolerable. As are people who order Whoppers as a snack. Just stop. You're abusing your freedoms.

I saw “The Artist” alone. It’s the first movie I saw by myself and I felt weird for the first 5 minutes.

You are only the second person (beside myself) I know who saw The Artist in the theater. I bet you don’t own it on DVD

No DVD, but one of my all-time favorites. As a washed up radio announcer, it hit home.

I’ve never understood the supposed stigma of going to the movies by yourself.
