Students at New York’s specialized high schools have long been predominantly white or Asian. Mayor Bill de Blasio is moving to change thathttps://on.wsj.com/2J8RRIQ

What happens to the qualified students who are denied admission b/c of de Blasio’s quota system? These schools currently base admissions on merit; to add a quota system is regressive and foolish.

I highly disagree with this. I hope De Blasio does NOT change this. It’s already based on Merit. A lot of asian students are first gen immigrants. It’s fair game

You have to apply to get into these schools, take a test. Admission is based on skill. This stupid mayor is now letting people in not in achievement but in reverse racism ...the dumbing of America continues

How many of you went to colleges where you were selected on the basis of one test you took on one day when you were 14? No do overs!

As long as educational standards for entrance & eligibility are not changed, lowered, or adjusted to meet that quota. Unfortunately the hand writing is on the wall, that will occur & the excuse makers will be working overtime on providing reasons why standards need to be lowered.

If you set aside 20% then thats fewer seats and eliminates spots for people who passed the test. crazy. I hope he doesnt do the same for heart, brain or cancer surgeons, engineers, architects . the bldgs will fall down!

Everybody gets a trophy...we need to offer an avenue for the best and brightest to excel. Creating another outlet where teaching to the norm does little to serve the students or society. DeBlasio is planning to leave a damaging progressive legacy

Sadly the votes line up behind his lunacy. The cycle will begin again with the next downturn...rinse and repeat. The damaging groundwork from his “agenda” will take decades to reverse.
