They've been doing this for nearly a decade, it is only being talked about because they issued a statement to the media. Perhaps as a warning or in response to a growth in excessive returns. They could be trying to get out in front of harmful leaks (from their employees).

That is the life of online retailers especially when it comes to buying clothing & need to try things on. Amazon isn't the only online retailer with great prices either.

People who make frivolous and repeated returns drive up costs for honest customers. Those that clearly breach a reasonable return rate play havoc - and do so for purely selfish reasons. Companies have a right to limit this atrocious behavior.
