    The Light of Hope Foundation was founded in Ghana in 2011. Today its has empowered and supported 79 rural and vulnerable women through micro-finance and loans programs so that they may start their own businesses and gain independence. Read more:

    In statement made at the Forum of Women Parliamentarians the President of the IPU Gabriela Cuevas Barron stated that in two yeas we have only seen a 1% increase in women in parliament and at this rate it could take 50 years or more to reach parity.

    On Thursday the House passed the revamped Violence Against Women Act 263 to 158. The Act expands law enforcement's ability to restrict gun purchases by convicted domestic abusers, which the NRA lobbied against. Read more here:

    While we often hear that the wage gap is getting smaller, The PEW Research center found that it is actually slightly bigger. They also found that women of color experience much larger wage gaps than white women when compared to white men. Read more here:

    In the UK the gender pay gap has widened in the public sector. Women are still paid 89p for every pound that men make. The pay gap widened to 14.1% in March 2018 compared to 14% in 2017. Read more here:
