  6. A building at is named after a Confederate general and KKK leader. MTSU tried and failed to rename it in 2018. Since then, the governor replaced several members of the historical commission, so MTSU is going back to try again.

  7. MTSU made its 1st bid to the TN Historical Commission in 2018. The petition needed support from two-thirds of the commission, which it didn't get. MTSU didn’t appeal the decision, in part because of how expensive & arduous the process would be.
