  1. Another , another fascinating item from our stacks. This time it's 7 tiny mustard seeds! Our tech had to use a magnifying glass to make out each image. The 3 seeds in the middle are images of individuals—prob Gods—& the other 4 contain text we couldn't quite decipher

Seven mustard seeds are mounted on a red velvet stand within the 3" x 3" white box. Each seed is individually illustrated with micro writing. On three seeds in middle level are images of individuals, and on other four seeds in above and below level are texts that is too tiny to dechiper.

  5. Today is & the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. & we honor the memories of those who were lost & those who survived, that we might ensure such horrors never happen again (Photo: Pres Clinton visits the US in 1993)

President Clinton looks at a black and white photographic mural of Auschwitz survivors showing their tattooed arms, part of the permanent exhibition at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. A portion of the text above the mural is visible and reads, "'We have been baptized, we will carry the tattoo on our left arm until we die.' -Primo Levi (1919-1987), Italian Jewish Author, Auschwitz Survivor"

Today on we remember all those who were persecuted and killed during the Holocaust, including 6 million lost Jewish lives. We also commemorate 75 years since the Liberation of Auschwitz. This map shows the camp from above (1942-1945):

  8. 25 years ago, attorneys made their opening statements in the murder trial. Although it wasn't the first televised murder trial, it eventually superseded all others and became known by the media as the "Trial of the Century."

  15. Our museum tech stumbled across this gorgeous mother-of-pearl medallion while looking for something else in the Library's storage. The 5x5" carving depicts the scene of Nativity & the birth of Christ. What a Christmas miracle to happen upon this breathtaking piece!

Mother-of-pearl oval medallion depicts the Nativity. The carved scene displays an infant Jesus resting in a manger and his praying parents nearby, decorated gracefully with halos. On either side of Mary and Joseph are the three wise men and a shepherd bowing and praying. Two angels bow to Jesus and the North star shines above. The rim is carved with stars. Beneath the scene is decorated with leaf motif
