Just learned that there is a 5-bathroom-pass-per-semester-per-class limit at a high school in our community. And, that if an S doesn’t use all 5 passes, he/she can turn them in for EC at the end of the semester. I wonder if the Ts who enforce this rule realize what it teaches. 
Let's just be realistic here. Want to go to bathroom to actually go to the backroom, it a whole different scenario than want to go to bathroom to use your juul or meet up with your friends. Not saying I agree w/the policy, but kids often abuse it & @ hs level, it happens often.

I teach HS. It happens. Question is why do Ss want/need a break from classroom. I just sat through DAYS AND DAYS of PD for teachers and kept going to bathroom b/c I needed a break. Trying to address low S engagement by controlling bathroom access seems like solving wrong problem.
