‘Incels’ seem convinced that their hatred springs naturally from a lifetime of being lonely, shy nerds. This is a slur on lonely, shy nerds everywhere, myself included. Most of us do not consider our loneliness or frustration the logical prelude to murder.

If you're deriving your happiness from the approval of others you're not really happy. Our desirability is almost entirely out of our control. Super models get in accidents. I understand it can make you feel validated but it's an emotional response and one you can't influence.

Oh, I’ve never been happy, at least not for long. But realizing I was desired did increase my confidence, especially in interpersonal relationships of every kind.
