Today is the 50 yr anniversary of the SCOTUS’s Roe v Wade. With focused effort, it took the radical right 49 years to overturn it. Never forget there are people fighting relentlessly against women’s rights. (And all human rights.) Democracy demands we stay vigilant.

This includes the anti-trans bills that have put the lives of trans people in Tennessee at risk.
Now is the time to be recruiting candidates for 2024. Are you running? Who are you asking to run? Which candidate are you ready to knock doors for? twitter.com/SenatorLamar/s…

Rusty Crowe was appointed *again* to Chair the TN Senate Heath and Welfare Committee, despite Ballad Health’s score card. Rusty created Ballad. Ballad is failing our community.

for those that claim the 2024 election is the decisive “referendum” on authoritarianism and white nationalism,
I hate to break it to you, but states like West Virginia and Tennessee are already in the throngs of competitve authoritarianism
…and it’s getting worse.

Yet what the chose to focus on as their very first bill this session was private healthcare decisions. If they truly cared about kids, helping Tennessee’s broken foster care system and funding DCS would be their #1 issue.

Kids in Tennessee are more likely to be shuffled from one temporary home to another during their first year in foster care than foster kids living anywhere else in the nation, according to a new report, writes @anitawadhwani. tennesseelookout.com/2023/01/11/rep

In “stopping Biden” as her agenda, Diana Harshbarger apparently doesn’t like infrastructure funding or the Build Back Better funds states and municipalities (including TN) are using to invest locally. 🙄

🧵 This medical monopoly is about profits. Patients should have a choice in their medical options. It’s why I ran for TN Senate in 2022– against Rusty Crowe who changed the state law to create this medical monopoly. (1)

There needs to be a serious conversation with TVA-, , our electrical systems, & other state/local officials about how to avoid rolling blackouts and this level of disruption. Whether we need to improve infrastructure, management, or policies, we need to do it.

Meeting people where they are is foundational to movement work. It’s not about being comfortable, it’s about empathy and understanding. Remember, someone met each of us where we were. It’s imperative for those doing the work to do the same. It’s the only path to change.

My wife spent time in the hospital this week. On the hospital’s paperwork I was listed as her emergency contact; my relationship to her listed as wife. We fought for this right. Thank you to and thank you to everyone who voted to protect our marriage.

With kids living in hospitals, Sen. calls for action from Gov. Bill Lee to address the DCS staffing crisis:
“There are all kinds of ways he can address this issue, we’re just asking he does something. These kids are our responsibility.”
