Training the men was futile. Their lives are not in danger (mostly). These women are brave.

It would have been interesting to see how a division of well trained Afghan women would have held up on the battlefield. Obviously they couldn't have done worse than occurred, and they might have made a big difference. Too late now obviously...

It is an imperialist humanitarianism which decries the state of women while pronouncing (black & brown) men and boys unworthy of empathy, support & advocacy. These men, victims of wars& criminals both foreign and domestic, exist only as threats, never human & thus are disposable

It's not that anyone is disposable. Who had the most to lose from a Taliban takeover? Women (and girls) in Afghanistan. Perhaps arming and training those folks specifically, who had the most at risk, could have produced a different outcome. Perhaps not. We'll never know.

The Taliban have come out and saud that they made mistakes 20 years ago as regards to Wonen's rights and have vowed not to repeat those mistakes.

It's easy to make promises. Let's see if they keep those promises.
