Why does #Australia perform so dismally in studies measuring #ClimateAction? This is a wake up call for @ausgov that #Australians urgently need a solid climate & energy policy: lets seize this opportunity to turn our shameful record around & show leadership in tackling emissions!https://twitter.com/climatecouncil/status/1410726004365033473 …

The terrible fires aren't enough to produce political progress on this?

You would think so right?!! Did last summers wildfires result in policy changes in California? Maybe Aussies can learn from this. I saw there's some scary wildfires burning in the north near Lakehead this year, hope everyones staying safe and sending lots of love and solidarity.

For America (which is a low bar) we are very much leading the way and leaning into a lot of different aspects of mitigating the problem (though it is still not enough). Our terrifying and huge fires do seem to push us in the right direction politically.https://www.newsweek.com/california-plans-massive-scale-grid-90-electric-vehicles-2035-1596313 …

None of our power comes from coal at this point and we also have a carbon trading system that is helping us mitigate somewhat. But that said, it's certainly not enough.https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/when-it-comes-to-clean-energy-california-is-king-2021-06-29 …

And thank you for your concern during our fire season (which is most of the year now thanks to the #ClimateCrisis). Watching fires hit you hurts our hearts as we are all too familiar with that struggle. Good luck to you and thank you for your fire crews who come help us.
