What we need to look at, as we anticipate ecological collapse & resulting wars etc., is what actions can we take now to try and save what can be saved?
We can't save everything, but if we want humanity to survive, we need to start to think about what we can save. #ClimateChange

The oceans. Have you seen Seaspiracy?

A few things are going to happen in the oceans, first of all they are going to rise... A LOT over the next century and faster than anyone is really prepared for. We need to use the sorts of tech the Dutch have developed and also retreat from the coast in many instances.

The other problem is that they are being over fished, huge amounts of horrible toxic chemicals are flowing into them, and they are getting acidic very quickly. Some experts see nothing more sophisticated than sponges being able to survive the triple onslaught.

So any community dependent on the sea for food is going to have to find a new food source.

Issues that cause the most harm are trolling, overfishing, and fishing waste. So many Indigenous communities rely on the sea and they are already suffering from lower fish populations. What would you say is our biggest threat? Rising sea levels or overfishing?

"Biggest threat" really depends on the communities in question. For communities that are entirely reliant on fishing for food, then over fishing. For many coastal communities that don't, sea level rise. We are about to witness the largest mass migration event ever.

Good point.

Another issue is that a lot of containment systems for terrible toxic chemicals are going to get flooded in the sea level rises and stronger storms etc. Honestly humanity right now is totally unprepared for the upcoming catastrophes. We need to really look at mitigation etc.

We need to avoid conflict where possible. Though, agreed, sadly that will not always be possible. The wars will cause almost as much harm as the ecological catastrophes, maybe more if they become nuclear.
