The Democrat's contradiction is that their donor base is huge corporations & billionaires & their vote base is social democrats who actually want to help the non-rich. It's clear who they serve better... Most of their weakness & incompetence is by design. They are the "good cop"

Yeah, that’s basically what I’m trying to get at. It’s cognitive dissonance all over the place. I suppose what I’m trying to highlight that often seems missing from the discourse is that most of them are strongly convinced they’re doing the right thing.

It feels good to believe you are doing the right thing. Most of the GQP strongly believe they are doing the right thing too. It's easy to overlook the sins of your team because you want to believe you are on the right side of history etc.

. But in left discourse, we talk about how @TheDemocrats serve billionaire donors, which they often do. But they definitely don’t think that’s what they’re doing. It’s an ideological bubble we haven’t been able to permeate. That’s what I’m getting at.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 0 tykkäystä -

True, but for GQP they are trying to protect the world from like lizard leaders & space lasers or whatever. They think they are fighting for good too. Or before GQP, conservatives think abortion is a sin etc. Each side needs to think it is doing more than serving billionaires.

And as we saw, only 7 Senate Republicans are willing to put their vote against fascism, instead of just meaningless platitudes. A weird combination with corporatocracy, I must say.

Fascism & corpratocracy are the usual bedfellows on the road to fascism. The industrialists always think they can control the fascists... but it doesn't work out that way (See WW2 Italy & Germany etc.) The huge corporations know they can't control socialists on the other hand...

Yeah, that’s what stymies me, the belief that industry can tame or moderate fascism. Not when cultural issues are constantly used to divide the masses. Industry has no meaningful answer to that.

Agreed. Also, "moderate fascism" is really just early fascism. That road always goes to the same destination. Fascism is mostly just a sign of late stage capitalism. The system needs to burn down and reboot. Folks become ever poorer and then some of them want to punch down.

Does
@Vote_CNP believe the burning down can be avoided? I was under the impression that you guys view a more autonomous California as more likely to succeed if its move towards greater autonomy precedes a full breakdown of US democracy. Please correct me if I’m wrong.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 0 tykkäystä
The best hope for California to avoid the fate looming over the US is to get out ASAP. Abandonment of the broken and dysfunctional US system is likely the only feasible escape for several of the more blue leaning nations & bio-regions that make up the US. Out of one... Many.

Ok, so the
@Vote_CNP position is that it’s better to get out early, but more likely/feasible to get out when the US system breaks down further?0 vastausta 0 uudelleentwiittausta 0 tykkäystäKiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa
