The history of Citizenship in the US is deeply woven with the history of racism. It has been used as the legal enforcer of racism for most of US history. Citizenship affords power, & that’s why citizenship of African Americans was long denied too - to both slaves & descendants.
By your party. Still is today. You and yours like @RepJoshG are gun grabbers who don't allow minority families to be able to protect themselves. Government is not the answer. The question is how can you think the govt is the answer to anything- it fails at everything.
