Last night I joined with Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Tina Smith, and Rep. Rick Nolan in voting to protect the needs/priorities of all Minnesotans. This budget agreement supports veterans, comm. health centers, education, environmental protection, and helps fight the opioid crisis.
Many House Democrats wanted to shut down the government and oppose this funding deal in the hopes it would force a vote to protect DREAMERS. We must protect DREAMERS, refugees, and all immigrants, as well as fund our government. It’s not an either-or-choice – we need to do both!
DREAMERS are facing deportation because President Trump created a crisis. We need action. But denying resources to families in crisis due to opioid addiction or shutting down funding to community health centers hurts more people and will not help DREAMERS.
