I am so, so proud that the voting line was 3 hours long today. I did not hear one complaint from anyone standing there. People know the importance of using their voices. Please remember this feeling and energy. Do not lose it. The real fight starts after inauguration.

3 hour lines are vote suppression. Nice to see large turnout, but waiting hours to vote is not acceptable

It’s the first day of early voting and there are only a certain number of people allowed to be indoors together. People were *excited* to vote. Without the covid restrictions, it would’ve been a lot faster, but this is actually a good sign. Folks have another 9 days.

It should’ve taken less than 30 minutes

It will the rest of the week, I’m positive. There are days they open at 7AM, and days they close at 8PM to accommodate those with early/late schedules. And if you’ve requested an absentee ballot, you can skip the line and hand it to the poll workers.

This same exact thing was happening during the primaries.

In NY? I mean, we were at the beginning of the pandemic, so had social distancing, but I don’t think it was nearly as busy. I voted early and was electioneering, and it was not nearly this crowded in Queens. Plus, less folks vote in primaries.

And to be clear- I agree that waiting hours in a non-pandemic happens, and it’s clearly because of voter suppression. I just think we have to be realistic in dealing with the restrictions during covid.
