I signed up to be a poll worker for the general election and wanted to share my experience for the training. If I had to summarize it in one word, I’d say it was “bizarre.” A thread

I was initially given a training location 6 miles away. I biked out there and arrived at the training location which was a locked & closed building. Nobody answered the door, and I didn’t get in. I was marked as a “no show.”

I called the BOE after to tell them they sent me to a closed building and they said “oh that happens.” They didn’t know when there would be more trainings so they said to just keep calling back. A few calls later I was told there was a training literally down the block from me.

So yesterday I went to this 3hr training. Essentially it was the trainers reading through the training manual instead of you reading it yourself. There is a quiz, but they give you the answers. Nobody checked my ID. I cannot figure out why the training wasn’t online.

There was a guy who kept taking off his mask and needed reminded to keep it on. I wondered why they didn’t just throw him out, but they also kept emphasizing the need for this effort to be bipartisan. It all seems very Twilight Zone. Anyway see you at the polls

Anymore reasoning to offer on why closed locations are given out? Did you get a copy of the manual?

I got the manual and we are encouraged to take it with us that day and reference it. They didn’t give me an answer for why I was sent to a locked building. It had a BOE sign but the door was locked and nobody seemed to be there
guessing there wasn’t a training scheduled there1 réponse 0 Retweet 2 j'aime -

And that’s a major problem. Especially day of, when you’re asking questions of workers, and they don’t know how to answer them.

instead of a training that taught us what we need to know, it was a training on how to look up answers in this book
