“Black women will save America,” is a very whiny expression of white privilege, isn’t it?

Didn’t 53% of white women vote for trump? Maybe it’s time to have difficult convos with your white lady friends rather than pressuring your black friends to carry every burden

What does "unitedleft" mean? Is it a wry acknowledgment that people who think of themselves as "left" often dislike each other for not being "left" enough?

It's not even a matter of distance on a linear scale. We all have very different approaches. To a large extent, Leftism is just about calling bullshit on the establishment. Even with the same diagnosis, we will write very different prescriptions.

And I'm wondering if the term "unitedleft" is maybe a joke based on that dynamic

Nah it’s to acknowledge that we all have common ground that we can come together on. Like the basics of housing as a human right for example. We are more united than divided once we get past the corporate pac money

"More united than divided" seems accurate to me, but if what people post on twitter is any indication, it seems like people who think of themselves as "left" often call each other "neolibs" or "shitlibs" or "centrists" etc

I love twitter but sometimes I have to remind myself that it does not necessarily represent real life 100%
