Repeat after me: At the federal level, we pay for things through Congressional appropriations. NOT TAXES.

And the kicker is... the deficit doesn’t hurt anyone. Not spending enough to help the people ...hurts people

So presumably this deficit employs real resources. Where are these private resources being directed? Why isn’t the private sector doing so? Why is a government trying to both help and harm (with existing taxes)? Do you have any examples of this tax free society?

Do you believe inflation disproportionately harms the poor and middle class? Do you believe we accurately measure inflation today? Do you believe ZIRP is a good policy or does it contribute to inequality?

Inflation isn’t caused by deficits. It’s caused by scarcity in finite resources that we all need.

Deficits reflect a shift of resources from the private sector to the public sector, no?

I really recommend you read some Stephanie Kelton! She explains better than I ever could and I’m thankful she will have so much influence at the federal level.

I believe she would say when we have idle people and resources there is slack that can be safely absorbed. Current conditions seems to be a prime opportunity to employ some resources. Bernie apparently believes spending needs taxes.https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-deficit-myth-review-years-of-magical-thinking-11591396579 …

I love Bernie and Stephanie Kelton but they have different beliefs despite her advising. Rather than guessing what she’d say I really do recommend just reading her works or watching some of her YouTube. Enjoy!

Have you read the book? Isn’t that correct that slack is her argument? https://johnhcochrane.blogspot.com/2020/07/magical-monetary-theory-full-review.html?m=1 …pic.twitter.com/5S7UNf7EwK
