They also backdated my unemployment to start when I had my last paying job (March 2020) but from March to the end of June, I “volunteered” at my own campaign so 3 months just got hacked off.

I’m currently on unemployment and I have to say, the application process was extremely confusing. I called a few times to ask questions and I just got the “call back another time agents are busy” message.

I will make it, but I think about all the people who are unemployed right now, and how “volunteering” disaqualifies you from help. Being unemployed is a punishment in our society, and you should essentially remain disconnected from the things you love if you lose your job.

Just to clarify, I am not saying I should have received unemployment while campaigning, but the fact it gets backdated is certainly problematic for many people besides myself.

Oh it’s a nightmare. Once it finally gets going it’s OK but it took a 1 1/2 months between approval & 1st check. You can’t reach by phone. They call you back but you never know when. I ended up reaching out to a state rep and it still took forever
