My Japanese family messages me sometimes to ask why there are videos of people protesting masks, and social distancing. In March, they asked why there were spring breakers partying on beaches. Japan has had less than 1,000 deaths. We have lost more than 100x the people.

I really can’t explain it. In other countries, it’s unspeakable to put others, especially elders at risk. It’s also normalized to wear masks. And their leaders don’t tell them it’s a hoax, then tell them to inject disinfectant, and try out some malaria medication. JFC.
