Throwing money at huge corporations to “save the economy” is like putting buckets under a leak. And you keep having to change the buckets because they keep filling back up. Because we aren’t addressising the actual problem. THREAD
Representatives need to realize that to ‘save our economy’, the relief needs to be directed at the people with zero means testing. Otherwise they will be throwing money at corporations over and over because we will continue to lose our ability to buy and pay for anything.
It’s all so backwards and leaves room for large corporations to hold all the power with the ability to buy up property and businesses when this is all over. And it leaves us all with a huge amount of debt to pay back to them. Because of a pandemic.
With all that said, lives are more important than the economy. Getting essential workers the supplies they need to prevent infection, abolishing and preventing homelessness, ensuring nobody goes hungry, #M4A, etc. should be priority.
I certainly don’t see that.
The problem is most of our reps are either so corrupt or completely out of touch with how basic economics works or both that they will always bail out corporations over people.
