I can’t get a man I met yesterday while door-knocking out of my head. He had Alzheimer’s, dementia, and his already very limited assistance was being cut because he got a roommate to care for him. He is very worried about being able to pay his rent and has nowhere to go. THREAD

Our system is so goddamn backwards and people in need are punished. This man has done everything he could, has lost his wife and is spending the final years of his life struggling to pay rent. If he doesn’t, he’s a senior citizen with Alzheimer’s and dementia on the street.

Any of us can end up on the streets if we lose everyone close to us and become very ill. Please, we need a #homesguarantee immediately as nobody should worry about losing their home, no matter the circumstance.

This isn’t just an election year. This is IT for so many people. Life vs. death. Home vs. street. Please have compassion for those who are not okay with compromise. You never know if their life circumstances don’t allow for one more compromise from our leaders.

So, my ex called me today explaining why she couldn't come pick up our kid for the weekend. She was shitting and pissing blood and her insides ached but she refused to go to the emergency room because she just finished paying them off from last time. This shit is real .
