It has been 1 year since #MalaysiaGoodson was killed trying to take a stroller down the subway stairs. No elevator has been added to the subway station where she died. The MTA never offered its condolences. Nothing has changed.

We need to stop relying on the “goodwill” of entities like the MTA to do the right thing. We need to legislate so the right thing HAS to be done. Right now the Americans with Disabilities Act is only enforced when people sue. That’s ridiculous.
As a member of Congress, I want to prioritize expanding the ADA so that it is enforced by the federal government, not by people with disabilities.

I found this to be true at universities, too. I suspect a lot of disabled students get shafted.
