The fact that our administration tried to intimidate our neighbors with a citizenship question on the census (even though it was removed) will likely prevent a lot of families from feeling safe enough to respond. Denying our district and city federal funding.

I am working with local groups and writing grants for them as part of my day job so we can ensure we correct this misinformation and help to ensure our fellow New Yorkers are counted and feel safe reporting.

Re: the BQE, the problem is that we have a system in which we as a society still NEED cars to get to work to earn a living, even in NYC. There are many reasons I am fighting to nationalize and upgrade public transit across this country, and this is one of them.

We need to incentivize and make completely FREE people using public transit, but we also need to upgrade so that they can rely on it to get where they need to go. Congestion taxes should be paid by corporations not working people who congest our streets for profit.

Regarding the constant flooding/health hazards throughout our district including the Newtown Creek, and the fact that our sea levels rise at 1.5 the rate of global avg, is why I am pushing for aggressive action to fight for our future including:

Federally we are slashing funding to the EPA, we are ignoring the urgency of the climate crisis, and for the last 26 years we have had a representative who is totally disconnected from everyday issues. Hence the urgency of reversing our damage.

I wanted to add 1 thing. we can’t blanket tax congestion. People with disabilities are forced to use cars to get around because our public transit is NOT accessible. Often policies with the best intentions continue to oppress the people we claim to want to help.

Same with blocking people from being able to park. Until we make public transit 100% accessible, we have no business further hurting communities that have gone completely ignored.
