... or 2020 Census and how that will impact funding for NY-12 residents. All I see are copy and pasted DSA-approved talking points. Which is nice to see, but... shallow. Sometimes I wonder if these people actually live here. Should be me running TBH. I'm just a peon worker tho

Everyone loves
@AOC because she's a LEGIT New Yorker. You don't have to be born and raised like her or me. But you should at least speak about issues as if you actually experience them, not as if you read about it in the NYtimes or on twitter. For real.2 réponses 1 Retweet 7 j'aimeAfficher cette discussion -
WTF do I know though, we just live a rock's throw from the BQE and our eight-day-old child needs an air purifier, two white noise machines, and the fucking Newtown Creek on the other side of us floods with raw sewage and I have to tell my wife not to go out when it pours

Great points – critical to health and very pertinent to
#NY12 since federal matters. If there's been previous discussion, I missed it too.@VoteAshcraft,@EricaForNY, &@PeteHarrisonNYC, could you make time to quote-tweet Thomas w/ a response? (Thanks for your consideration.

Thank you Thomas and Bright! Forgive my long thread as a response as I just want to make sure I fully address your questions. The anger you feel at not having representation that advocates for the working class of NY-12 is truly justified and why I am running

The fact that our administration tried to intimidate our neighbors with a citizenship question on the census (even though it was removed) will likely prevent a lot of families from feeling safe enough to respond. Denying our district and city federal funding.

I am working with local groups and writing grants for them as part of my day job so we can ensure we correct this misinformation and help to ensure our fellow New Yorkers are counted and feel safe reporting.

Re: the BQE, the problem is that we have a system in which we as a society still NEED cars to get to work to earn a living, even in NYC. There are many reasons I am fighting to nationalize and upgrade public transit across this country, and this is one of them.

We need to incentivize and make completely FREE people using public transit, but we also need to upgrade so that they can rely on it to get where they need to go. Congestion taxes should be paid by corporations not working people who congest our streets for profit.

Regarding the constant flooding/health hazards throughout our district including the Newtown Creek, and the fact that our sea levels rise at 1.5 the rate of global avg, is why I am pushing for aggressive action to fight for our future including:

1) GND 2) ending fossil fuel subsidies 3) ending factory farm subsidies 4) banning single use plastics 5) subsidizing immediate action to protect our neighborhoods And *listening* to people. How many studies are needed to understand what residents have been saying all along?

Federally we are slashing funding to the EPA, we are ignoring the urgency of the climate crisis, and for the last 26 years we have had a representative who is totally disconnected from everyday issues. Hence the urgency of reversing our damage.
