Today I finished the Podcast 1619 by Nicole Hannah-Jones. It is an infuriating and eye-opening history of the consequences of slavery. Horrible fact that everyone should know: Thomas Jefferson owned slaves when he wrote the words “all men are created equal.” Two things: 1/2

Jefferson didn't own slaves, he owned people. Allies should refer to the enslaved as people, so we can continue to remember that they were Human Beings w/ families. Plus, the ancestors deserve our respect. We respect them by acknowledging their humanity.
