He didn’t mean all men. Our founding fathers could have never imagined all of us being truly equal. We still aren’t. Secondly, he realized slavery was profitable and it would be political suicide to end it. Politics and inequality were always rooted profit. Let’s end that garbage

My History teacher in high school used to say "But some are more equal than others." when referencing Thomas Jefferson.

Accurate. He certainly didn’t mean the people he owned. Or failed to regard humans as humans. Either is disturbing.

Jefferson didn't own slaves, he owned people. Allies should refer to the enslaved as people, so we can continue to remember that they were Human Beings w/ families. Plus, the ancestors deserve our respect. We respect them by acknowledging their humanity. #NotMeUs -
