I’m appalled at the amount of privilege in this tweet. Does it matter if one out of 20 people who jumps a turnstile could afford to swipe? I want a rep who stands up against military policing of POC regardless of reason. Besides, public transit should be free.
Appreciate your willingness to have a discussion. I don’t think there should be turnstiles, as public transit should be free. Walking right through wouldn’t be an infraction at all. Finally, we need to concentrate less on punishment, more on elevating people out of poverty.

We do pay in multiple ways for the MTA. I’d be happy personally paying more taxes for myself to ensure there are no turnstiles. However I ultimately believe public transit should be federally funded as part of the
