When I see Christianity being used to justify hate, racism, and judgment of those experiencing poverty, homelessness, and seeking asylum, it really saddens me. My religion strengthens my fight for everyone’s equality and dignity and the decriminalization of poverty.

I couldn’t care less what religion anyone else is. But if you’re an elected who quotes the teachings of Christianity, I’m looking for you to use the teachings the way they were intended, and not for hate and bigotry.

I believe a guy named Chris Hedges wrote a book on Christian Fascism round about 2008. One of his mentors in college actually escaped Nazi Germany as they were persecuting those uncooperative Christians. He said fascism in America will wrap itself in the flag and the cross.
