No it’s not. However, I’m willing to negotiate and say: shelter is a right. And in that case, there are plenty of shelters ran by nonprofit organizations. The people who find themselves in need of their services need only to go and ask.

Yes it is! It's been proven that giving people a home greatly improves their health, mental health, and more. I really dont get why you follow me with your foolishness

and I follow you because I want to learn from the people I disagree with. I want to know what they believe, why they believe what they do, and converse with them to broaden my knowledge of people.

Except you never seek a conversation, you come in with a strong point. Carry on

I am always open to conversation. I just don’t think housing is a right when the shelters, that are free, aren’t even being taken advantage of.

I’m open to having a conversation too. Quick question: have you spoken with someone who has lived in shelters? Like actually sat down and asked them about their experiences?

Yep. I’ve worked with and n them for the past 7or8 years. Not all are great, but the main one in our city is pretty good. What we have noticed is that many of these people don’t just need a house, they need addiction services, psychological help, and socializing assistance.

And we have failed by not providing access to the services they need. Which is why I’m fighting for single-payer Medicare for all with free mental healthcare and substance use disorder treatment. 1/2

A huge portion of homeless individuals in our city are children. Keep that in mind please as we discuss how people ended up on the street. Many families are only one emergency away from homelessness, and we need to build a system that prevents this.

Thats an entire different issue when children are involved. But again, giving the parents a house, isn’t going to help the reason why the parents were homeless to begin with. If kids are involved, they need to be place into DHS (as a parent I would never want for my child) 1/2

It’s not a different issue. These are humans we have failed as a society. Nobody wants homelessness for their child. Not every person has the privilege of avoiding it. Which is why I’m pushing for a system that abolishes homelessness in a comprehensive way. #HomesGuarantee
