No it’s not. However, I’m willing to negotiate and say: shelter is a right. And in that case, there are plenty of shelters ran by nonprofit organizations. The people who find themselves in need of their services need only to go and ask.

Yes it is! It's been proven that giving people a home greatly improves their health, mental health, and more. I really dont get why you follow me with your foolishness

If it’s the money we are concerned about (which is *absolutely the wrong way* to look at life and death matters) it costs less to give people a home than to fail them by allowing them to be on the streets. Homelessness is a failure of all levels of government. Why not do better?

In other words, we know the costs, and actively choose to allow people to remain homeless. Despite it being the worst option of all. Let that sink in.

Because, contrary to popular belief, many people aren’t homeless because “they don’t have a house.” I’ve worked with homelessness personally, many suffer from addiction, mental illness, and an inability to function in society. A free house is a bandaid on a gunshot wound.

But social services dont just end at receiving a home

It has to be done in steps. Fix the mental illness, the addiction, and help socialize these individuals then housing assistance. None of these things can happen, unless the person is willing to fix the problem that made them homeless in the first place or it will just cycle again

As someone who has GAD, I wanna say nobody can “fix” my disorder, and it’s not a question of willpower. I have it, and through my privilege of having money for treatment, I’ve gotten help. What we can do is create a system where treatment is free, encouraged and destigmatized.

Absolutely. Mental health is a huge issue that is often ignored. My wife suffers from OCD, which is anxiety based. There isn’t a “cure” however there are specialist that are able to help. There should definitely be ways for people who can’t afford to get help, to actually get it.
