It is World Mental Health Day. I wanted to raise awareness around the fact that I left my anxiety undiagnosed and untreated for the majority of my life because I had no mental healthcare coverage with my insurance. Seeking care is STRENGTH, and should be encouraged and FREE. 1/2
I had the privilege of being able to seek treament through a workplace program eventually. Shame on our representatives for stigmatizing and placing such little value on seeking mental healthcare, which IS healthcare. #SinglePayer #Medicare4All 2/2

I also think a huge problem for some is also trying to schedule therapy around work and family obligations. I know I've had a hard time in the past getting off from work to deal with health issues and we need to make it mandatory that employers give people whatever time they need
Thank you very much Stigmatization of mental health is also a societal problem, though. I live in a country with universal healthcare including mental health and it still took me almost 2,5 years between late 2009 and early 2012 to seek help for my depression.
