2/? When I was 17 and living in Germany, I had an infection and went to the urgent care facility. I did not know how insurance worked there and figured I’d go bankrupt for getting sick abroad. When I checked in at the desk, the employees told me not to worry about the finances.

3/? On the way out when I was less panicked, I checked back in with them, and they told me to leave and stay healthy. I will never forget their kindness.

4/? The other week, I went to a doctor for a necessary procedure. I AM insured here, and I left with a $500 bill. If I didn’t have my job and my insurance, I cannot imagine what that bill would have been.

5/? *This* is why I have to work while I campaign, and also why people across the country have to WORK while fighting for their lives. Why else do we often hear of coworkers donating their days off to their colleagues fighting to survive?

6/6 THIS is the difference between socialism and capitalism. One system forces you to still generate a profit for your employer and insurance “provider” while you are trying to live. The other allows you to focus on LIVING.
